![]() Registered Member #922 Joined: Tue Dec 01 2009, 09:05AMLocation: South West Posts: 12 | for 11m, I would have thought a half wave doublet using twin 450 ohm feeder to a 1-1 balun and the shortest possible length of coax to the tranceivier (from the balun) would be the way to go,, this antenna allows all the power to radiate from the antenna unlike using a coax feed, which will have a high impedance at the antenna, thereby giving high losses. Using the formula of 468 divided by the frequency of 277812 gives a length for a half wave of 16ft and 8", therefore each element will be 8ft 4", If the coax feed on the common diapole is inadvertantly cut to a mutiple of the required wavelength this will also change the characteristics, impedance and swr of the antenna. With the doublet, the feed length is unimportant. Hope this is helpful. | ||
